Terra Madre Americas

Terra Madre Americas combines with Farm to Fork

Why Terra Madre Americas Is the Most Important Food Festival You’ll Attend This Year

If you love food — not just eating it, but understanding where it comes from and who makes it — you’ll want to mark your calendar for Terra Madre Americas, coming to Sacramento September 26–28.

When Slow Food announced in May 2025 that their flagship Terra Madre Salone del Gusto would land in the U.S.—the first satellite edition ever—it turned heads. The host city? Sacramento, California—America’s self-declared “Farm‑to‑Fork Capital.” Slow Food’s international director Paolo Di Croce said the city’s multicultural food scene—with over 120 nationalities represented—is what made it feel like “California is the world” in miniature.

So why Sacramento? Visit Sacramento President & CEO Mike Testa explained: the region’s agricultural heritage, booming culinary reputation, and award-winning restaurants convinced Slow Food it was the perfect partner to merge their global festival with the local Farm‑to‑Fork Festival.

Expect September 26–28, 2025 to light up July heat: three days inside and around the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center will bring the tastes of all Americas—cheese, coffee, wine, olive oil, cocktails, and more—with demonstrations by culinary icons like Alice Waters, Jeremiah Tower, Andrew Zimmern, Elizabeth Falkner, and others.

Live music from The War on Drugs, Spoon, Jade Bird, Passion Pit, and headlining concerts outdoors add a sonic spice to the menu

Beyond flavors, Terra Madre Americas is rooted in sustainability, biodiversity, and cultural celebration—a natural extension of Sacramento’s agricultural strengths and community ethos. Admission is free thanks to Visit Sacramento, with selected workshops and pop‑up dining experiences offered à la carte.

In short: Sacramento didn’t just win a food festival. It earned its place as America’s official stage for global food traditions—and we’re all invited to the table.
