Sacramento Gardener’s Market

perennial plant society

As winter melts into early spring, Sacramento’s gardening community blossoms with one of the region’s most beloved horticultural traditions: the 21st Annual Gardener’s Market. On Saturday, March 7, 2026, plant lovers, landscape artists, and curious hobbyists are invited to spend a vibrant day at Shepard Garden & Arts Center exploring plants, garden treasures, and expert advice offered by the Sacramento Perennial Plant Club.

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., this one-day event brings together specialty nurseries, growers, and garden artisans showcasing a dazzling array of perennials, unusual plant varieties, and garden art. Whether you’re nurturing your first backyard plot or designing a backyard oasis, Gardener’s Market offers inspiration, tools, and treasures you won’t find at the big-box stores.

Attendees can browse blooming plants alongside handcrafted pottery, metal and glass garden art, and unique décor made from wood, stone, gourds, and other upcycled materials. A highlight of the day is the “What’s Blooming” floral display, featuring locally grown cutting flowers and staffed “Ask-A-Gardener” volunteers ready to answer your toughest horticultural questions.

Gardeners can also take advantage of practical services like tool, scissor, and kitchen knife sharpening and container drilling at a “donate-what-you-wish” station — perfect for spring prep. Plus, the proceeds from Gardener’s Market support the Sacramento Perennial Plant Club’s grants program and year-round educational efforts.

Best of all, Gardener’s Market is free and open to the public rain or shine. Whether you’re after a rare perennial, seeking advice from seasoned growers, or simply want to enjoy a day among fellow plant lovers, March 7 is your chance to welcome spring with roots, blooms, and community.
