A Fairy Tale Set to Breathtaking Music
Sleeping Beauty is one of the most beloved works in the classical ballet canon. The story follows the journey of Princess Aurora, cursed by the wicked fairy Carabosse to sleep for a hundred years — until the arrival of true love’s kiss awakens her and restores peace to the kingdom. Rooted in Charles Perrault’s timeless fairy tale, the narrative sparkles with magic, romance, and spellbinding stagecraft.
What makes this production especially transcendent is the music. The score was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, one of the great masters of the Romantic era, between 1888 and 1889. The full ballet Sleeping Beauty, Opus 66, was first performed in St. Petersburg in January 1890 and remains one of Tchaikovsky’s most cherished and enduring works.

Originally created for Northern Ballet in Leeds, England, to honor the centenary of Bram Stoker’s classic novel, this ballet infuses the legendary tale with thrilling new elements. Meet the Mastermind: Michael Pink
The brilliance behind this production is none other than Michael Pink, whose innovative approach has redefined classical ballet for modern audiences. Ballet in the Park
Ballet in the Park returns September 21, from 5-8pm at the William Carroll Amphitheater in Land Park. This FREE informal showing, presented by the students of School of Sacramento Ballet, and the pre-professional dancers from the Sacramento Ballet Second Company, is sure to enchant dance fans of all ages. Feel free to bring a blanket and a picnic, and don’t forget your tutus!
Wearing tutus is encouraged! Join the fun and dance along with students and the Second Company of School of Sacramento Ballet. There will be an open dance-along at the end of the show! Don’t miss it.
