Mark your calendars and dust off your fiercest heels — the Handle District’s signature soirée, Dress Up Wine Down, is back on May 17, 2025, and it’s bringing the perfect pour of glamour, generosity, and local flavor.
This annual outdoor celebration takes place right on Capitol Avenue (between 18th & 19th streets) in the heart of Midtown. From 5:00 to 7:30pm, the street transforms into a chic, alfresco fashion and wine festival that’s equal parts stylish and soulful.
What’s in your glass?
Thanks to Lodi Wine, guests can sample pours from over 15 award-winning wineries — many with the winemakers themselves in attendance, ready to share their passion and process. It’s a toast to Lodi, named Wine Region of the Year in 2015 and still producing bold reds, crisp whites, and plenty of wine-country charm.
What’s on the runway?
At 5:45pm, Capitol Avenue becomes an open-air catwalk curated by Sacramento style icon Felicia Strati, in partnership with Sacramento Fashion Week. More than a dozen local designers and clothiers will showcase their latest looks, bringing high fashion to street level in the most accessible, Sacramento way.
Why it matters: While the event is free to attend, donations are encouraged to benefit WEAVE, Sacramento’s leading nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. In just six years, the event has raised over $20,000 for this vital cause.
Wine. Fashion. Purpose. Whether you’re a fashion aficionado, a wine enthusiast, or just love a good Midtown evening out, Dress Up Wine Down is where your Friday night belongs.
