Based on the hit 1984 film that had everyone hitting the dance floor, Footloose tells the story of Ren McCormack, a city teen who moves to a small town where dancing is outlawed. With powerhouse songs like “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man),” and, of course, “Footloose,” this musical is a celebration of youth, rebellion, and the joy of cutting loose.

Broadway Sacramento Expands Year-Round Theatre Programming
In an exciting development, Broadway Sacramento has reached an agreement with the Sacramento Theatre Company (STC) to expand its programming beyond its traditional summer season. This means more shows, more opportunities to enjoy professional musical theatre, and more reasons to celebrate the performing arts in Sacramento.

For nearly 75 years, Broadway Sacramento and STC have shared a campus at 15th and H Streets. While STC has brought wonderful productions to the city for decades, rising costs have made it difficult for them to continue. As a result, Broadway Sacramento will now be the sole operator of the theatre complex, ensuring that live, professional theatre continues to thrive in the community.
“This is a bittersweet moment,” said STC Board President Betsy Wood. “We are proud of our legacy, and while we are sad to make this transition, we fully support Broadway Sacramento’s expansion.”

By joining the largest 5k/2k dog walk and festival in the Sacramento area, you’re stepping up for animals in need, providing them with essential veterinary medical care, spay/neuter services, and much more.

A Dash of Kindness Goes a Long Way

The morning kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with registration, followed by the eagerly anticipated 2k/5k walk at 10:00 a.m. It’s more than a walk; it’s a march of solidarity, a parade of paws, and a fun way to exercise, all while benefiting a cause close to our hearts. As an animal lover and pet guardian I have donated to the SPCA for years.  Three years ago we attended our first Doggy Dash.  Thanks to Facebook and the SPCA Doggy Dash electronic donation process soliciting donations is easy.  Chances are your closest family and friends are animal lovers and supporters too and I’m grateful for their support of our efforts.  Bella Rose, Scott and I enjoy the actual event as well.  It’s fun to see so many happy dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds in one place.  Some in costume!  William Land Park is beautiful and the walk is broken into 2 lengths so it’s easy for the active dogs/people to break out to the longer portion and the rest of us on the shorter route.  There are plenty of vendors to check out after the walk, lots of clean porta potties (important!) and event food trucks.  We look forward to attending in the future and like knowing we help support homeless animals in our area.  Win Win. ~ Joanie
